As I’m scrolling endlessly through my Instagram feed today, I came across a repost by Naturally Supreme via Awesomely Luvvie about this blog challenge… #31WriteNow. So, of course, I head on over to Luvvie’s page and yup, it’s what you think: one post per day for every day in the month of August. One word- YIKES!! O_O Now, my goal since attending the Blogging While Brown conference has been to get out at LEAST three blog posts for you lovely people per week. But SHEESH… 31 days straight?! Welp, while this challenge gave me brief palpitations, I almost immediately reposted said repost with a resounding… reluctant… excitedly nervous “I’m gonna try”. :-/ I think this will definitely help me build my writing skills and keep me on my toes creatively. With this challenge, there are no rules for length *whew* and ya know what? I’ve come to realize that my articles…
Happy Tuesday y’all! The International African Arts Festival in Brooklyn took place over four gorgeous (but HOT!!) days and brought out all types of gorgeous natural beauty. Although I am usually super eager to attend festivals, fairs and other free events to take in some culture, I don’t do so very often… weird, right?! Well, for that very reason, I decided to attend two days of the festival, the first and last, to take in as much as I could {see my fashion pics from day one here}. Of course, I had my Nikon in tow with the goal of capturing some of the beautiful hair I was sure to see as I roamed Commodore Barry Park. I wish I could’ve gotten a lot more shots but I’m happy with the ones I DID get! Take a gander… The next event I PROMISE to get more hair AND fashion pics! I…

So, what better way to say “thank you” than to share items from some of my favorite brands with my lovely followers! For this giveaway I will be selecting not one but FOUR winners!! Here’s what you’ll get… My first place winner will receive this FULL SIZE set of EDEN Bodyworks Coconut Shea products complete with CoWash, Leave-In, Pudding Soufflé, Curl Defining Creme (not shown) and…
On June 25th, up and coming female entrepreneurs gathered at Polish Bar of Brooklyn for Cocktails & Connections, a beauty industry mixer where they would be able to network and learn from the success stories of some of NY’s top beauty mavens. Although experiencing record temps in NYC there was nothing but positivity in the room. Speaking of positivity, a portion of the proceeds from the event was donated to Petals-N-Belles, a non-profit organization headed by Damali Elliott which is committed to empowering young girls in various areas of life… how cool is that?! The lineup went something like this… Essence.com’s Nicole Melton and celeb stylist Ursula Stephen were a pleasant surprise! Each special guest spoke candidly about the experiences that led them to the job of their dreams. #dowhatyoulove (one of my favorite things to hashtag!) seemed to be the running theme as each spoke of their rise to success in…
Hey people! So, yes, ya girl repped for the NY in the DMV for International Natural Hair Meetup Day (INHMD). Well, what had happened was… I was actin’ like I had all the time in the world to get a ticket so by the time I got good and ready to do so, the NY events were all sold out! 🙁 Welp, no big deal. This was the perfect opportunity to hop on a bus and head on down to Virginia to support Pamela of Koils by Nature and finally see celeb stylist Felicia Leatherwood in action at her Loving Your Hair With Natural Care Workshop (did you catch my interview?). I had also learned that Miss INHMD herself Adeea Rogers would be in the house so DMV, here I come! I was greeted with smiles and a hefty goodie bag which was loaded down even more with two FULL-SIZED…
