This past Fashion Week in New York City, I was excited to join the Optimum Amla Legend style squad for a behind-the-scenes view at the looks they executed for the Edwing D’Angelo Fall/Winter 2014 show! As a proud sponsor of the show, Optimum was responsible for complementing D’Angelo’s designs with simple yet slightly edgy hair. I’ve been trying to think up some profound intro for this post, perhaps some super poetic description of Miss Lupita Nyong’o. Listen, it ain’t happenin’! What is there to say except… This chick bad! Last week, I read an awesome article by Marie of Good Lookn Out on a couple of quaint spots she hit up while here in Brooklyn. She did such great job of hyping up Sweet Chick (not to mention her pics were AMAZING!) that I was super eager to take the hubster to this WIliamsburg chicken and waffle eatery the very next morning! As we walked in, we were immediately greeted by Benny and asked if we’d prefer a table by the window or a spot in the back area… we chose the window seat. Sweet Chick is by no means a large restaurant but I adored its rustic and homey feel. For me, the vibe was, “come on down, relax and chill”, almost coffee shop-y. Hey NYC! On Saturday, February 8th 2014 the event Know Your Roots: Natural Hair and the “Movement” will be held from 1 PM to 6 PM at Dinosaur BBQ in Harlem, NY.
