Black Skinny Jeans + Coral Peep-Toe Wedges
Taliah Waajid brought her natural hair expo to NYC for the first time and you know I had to be in the mix! I opted for comfort on day one with a pair of simple flats as I assisted at the EMBRACE Magazine booth. Making a quick appearance on day two to capture some footage, I thought I would finally bring out some bright, funky heels. BOOM! Oversized Button-Down- H&M | Skinny Jeans- H&M | Wedges- Necessary Clothing | Belt- Banana Republic (thrifted) | Sunnies- gifted | Nail Polish- Sinful Colors “Rise and Shine” In a rush and still wanting to keep things simple, I pretty much just threw on the easiest pieces I could. You can’t go wrong with neutrals! I hadn’t worn these jeans in a minute so hey, why not? And this beige shirt… it’s light and super versatile. But I just HAD to spice it up…

Hair Tip Tuesday: Wash Day- 3 Tips to Help You Get Through It!

Fashion Friday: Blue Floral Skirt + Jeweled Sandals
We took a little trip to Connecticut a couple Saturdays ago to surprise our friend, a mom-to-be, at Beardsley Park in Bridgeport. It can be risky to plan an outdoor gathering but the weather definitely cooperated during this baby shower. It was a GORGEOUS day! It was also HOT so I opted for this lightweight, blue floral skirt that I bought from the same thrift store as this one for a mere four bucks. Having recently gone through my large collection of tees, I remembered that I might have one that would go perfectly with it. I was right. 🙂 Skirt – Brooklyn Industries (thrifted) | Sandals – Target | Tee – Dr. Jays | Shades – Steve Madden (Daffy’s) Despite the heat, I felt pretty comfy in this getup and thoroughly appreciated that the skirt is lined with cotton… sweet! I had no idea how I’d wear it when I…

Hair Tip Tuesday: Keep It Simple!
In this week’s edition, I thought I’d pick up from where we left off last week. Shall we? This natural hair stuff doesn’t have to be as difficult or as confusing as some might make it out to be. One way to keep from pulling out your hair in frustration is to keep a simple and consistent regimen, starting with a handful of products. In my experience, there are just a few basic things you really need to get you started on a decent regimen. Cleanser Whether you use a commercial shampoo or a natural alternative, the choice is yours. Bottom line- clean hair will lead to healthy hair. If you do go the route of commercial shampoos, it’s great to have both a moisturizing sulfate-free shampoo as well as a good clarifying shampoo to thoroughly cleanse all the random gook (gels, creams, butters) that you may have piled on throughout…
