I give you fair warning… my thoughts may be a bit all over the place in this article, but I’m gonna try to get this point across as best as possible. Last week, we talked about the dangers of comparing your hair journey to that of others. A couple days after posting, a friend of mine shared an article with a related topic from a slightly different angle. I thought it would be a good followup. The topic? I can’t get enough of skirts in the summertime! The maxi is a definite love but what really makes me wanna skip through a meadow is a great-fitting circle skirt… the midi, more specifically. What better way to represent at a breakfast and hair care line presentation with the crew at SoftSheen-Carson than to get a little ‘dolled-up’ with my (relatively) new favorite BRIGHT floral midi skirt! Another good one… Comparison is the thief of joy. Truisms for life in general, yes? I can’t help but think, though, how apropos this statement is with respect to a person’s individual natural hair journey. A “code of conduct”, if you will, for the natural hair community. You cannot truly enjoy your own beautiful natural hair if you’re steadily comparing yourself to others. Now, in no way am I saying that admiring someone else’s hair means that you don’t love your own. But it’s one thing to look at someone in admiration and another to constantly wonder why someone’s hair is so awesome and yours isn’t. Follow what I’m saying? The more you compare, the more you stress and beat yourself up about the plight of your hair which may not even be a plight in the first place. Who passes up 56 cent pancakes at IHOP?! Not THIS girl! Heading over to the Union Square/Gramercy restaurant to get our grub on, comfort was the name of the game. It couldn’t get anymore… comfortabler– HA!- than this cotton maxi skirt from H&M. Representing my brand, I paired this cozy maxi with my Natural Beauty tank. Did you catch the way my hair matches the graphic {drawn my the hubster, btw}? Teehee! đŸ˜‰ I love this skirt so much, I wore it again the next day… and then bought this one! The best part, which I forgot to show off in these pics, is that it’s got POCKETS! Weeee! Besides the comfort, this maxi is so versatile and super easy to just throw on to go wherever.
