What happens when you have a wedding to attend in cooler months and want your hair to look amazing while keeping the season in mind? You turn to a protective updo! Take a closer look at the cornrowed style I chose for my cousin's nuptials.
Looking for a style to wear on your next vacation or just want to switch it up for a few weeks. Here are some braided and twisted natural hair styles I found around the web to give you some ideas for your next look!
Teyonah Parris hits the red carpet with another fierce updo at the Mad Men Season 6 Premiere in L.A. Y’all know I just loooooovvve a huge bun almost as much as I love an obnoxiously large pompadour and this style right here seems to be doing double-duty. Like her S.A.G. Awards ‘do, Teyonah has caused quite the commotion (in a good way!) with this DaRico Jackson creation. The hair tops off the perfect silhouette created by this amazing high-neck, body-hugging dress by J. Loren. With gold detail and see-thru side paneling, this dress is saying “HERE. I. AM!” There’s a lot to be said about a woman (or quite possibly her stylist) who knows what shapes are flattering to her body. I have yet to see Teyonah miss a beat. Hitting a few inches below the knee, the dress is just the right length to be rounded out by these…
The natural hair community came to a screeching halt as social media was flooded with photos of this amazing red carpet look created by none other than the talented Felicia Leatherwood, natural hair stylist to the stars! I know you’re probably thinking, “Wow, girl you late!” But you’d be wrong LOL! Trust. I’ve been all over this since the very night Miss Parris walked that fancy coif down the red carpet of the 2013 SAG Awards. Still, I couldn’t let another week go by without an honorable mention on the blog! First, let’s REALLY give it up for celeb stylist Felicia Leatherwood who created this magnificence! *applause* Elegance? Check. Wow factor? Check. And don’t we just LOVE seeing our natural celeb sistas flaunting their coils and curls for the world to see? It was a beautiful thing. Not since Viola Davis at the Oscars did we cause such a stir!…
In the month of November, I decided to begin protective styling with my favorite thing- kinky twists! At least… I think they were kinky twists. LOL Ya see, I used Bob Bulk hair by Janet Collection which isn’t quite kinky yet isn’t quite as straight as normal kanekalon braiding hair. You may recall this style post, inspired by Chanel Boateng on the YT. Anywho, here are four more styles I wore during the month and a half that I had these twists in. Enjoy!
