Step Out of the Box With These 7 Fall & Winter Boot Styles
My go-to for super big hair, guaranteed to give me bounce and volume all in one style is the dual method braid-out on a blow-out. Woooop! The Process Starting with freshly washed hair which was divided into about eight sections, I applied my favorite leave-in conditioner, Karen’s Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia. I then added a little more than a quarter-size amount of grapeseed oil to each section just before grabbing the blow dryer. No need to slather a ton of oil onto your hair. This not only seals in the moisture but also acts as a heat protectant. I divide each section in half to make the job a little easier and to keep from over-drying by applying heat for too long. The smaller sections will usually be dry after only a few passes. My goal is just to dry and stretch the hair, not make it bone straight. I always set my dryer on…

Hair Tip Tuesday: Listen to Your Hair
While there will be times when we’ll need the help of a pro to assess certain hair issues, most times, if we tune in to our tresses, we can usually find out some things before we make that visit to the salon. š Yes, our hair will always give us clues that there’s an issue if we really pay attention to it. As for the example in the above graphic, some may actually think all that “snapping, crackling & popping” is normal for coily/kinky hair. Not the case. The likelihood is that you have numerous strands that are knotted together or even single strand knots which are causing your comb or brush to snag on the hair as you manipulate it. Time for that trim! OR, you may simply need to grab your spray bottle, leave-in, etc. and get to moisturizing that hair STAT, making it more manageable. Is your…

Hair Tip Tuesday: Hair Steaming on a Budget
Happy Tuesday! Here’s the post that didn’t make it to the blog last week due to some technical difficulties! If you follow me on IG, you’ve already caught this lil tidbit. š Last month I raved about my new favorite hair tool, the Q-Redew handheld hair steamer. However, I understand that in these times, even with a discount, some still may not have the budget to purchase one at the moment. That does not mean you’re without hope! Why Steam Anyway? Steaming is so effective in a one’s hair care routine because it provides just the right amount of moisture and hydration to the hair to soften it and make it easier to manage without completely rewetting it. It can be done to give you volume, revive that wash & go or give you a little moisture to re-twist your hair for a fresh do without starting from scratch. When…

Review: Q-Redew Handheld Hair Steamer
What can I say… I LOVE IT! After hearing a quite bit of a buzz about this little hair tool, I gotta say, I was intrigued! When I realized that I was being followed by Q-Redew on Instagram, I took the opportunity to reach out to its creator, Heidi. First Impressions The steamer arrived rather quickly and right away, I was impressed with the smart packaging. The wand was neatly packed in a sturdy, plastic mold and was accompanied by an instruction manual and a cute welcome card from Heidi herself. I immediately grabbed the steamer to get a feel for it and found it to be lightweight and very comfortable in my hand. Getting Started Because I still had Marley Twists in when I received my steamer, it was a few weeks before I actually used it but I read the instructions right away. They were simple: carefully remove the reservoir…
