This past Fashion Week in New York City, I was excited to join the Optimum Amla Legend style squad for a behind-the-scenes view at the looks they executed for the Edwing D’Angelo Fall/Winter 2014 show! As a proud sponsor of the show, Optimum was responsible for complementing D’Angelo’s designs with simple yet slightly edgy hair. SoftSheen-Carson Director of Education Mezei Jefferson explains the looks and their inspiration: “We’re giving an anarchy look to it, like French Revolution… so we’re giving them the part down the center, sweeping all the hair over to the side, long ponytail then we’re wrapping it with the gold cord to give it that kind of bold feel. For the guys, we’re giving them side parts, sweeping it over with a little height in the front, you know, hair that’s reminiscent of that time period.” The team made use of Optimum Amla Legend products to achieve these sleek styles including their…
This style has been around for quite a bit but boy has my Instagram feed been inundated by this protective style! Oh, oh… don’t get me wrong. I LOVE it (hence the title). I’m just sayin’, it has definitely become the go-to style for many especially during vacation season and in the spirit of just plain ole not-wanting-to-have-to-do-your-hair-ness. You’ll often see the terms “Havana Twists” and “Marley Twists” used interchangeably but technically, it all boils down to the type of hair that’s used. Either way, it’s about to be on and…
Happy Tuesday y’all! The International African Arts Festival in Brooklyn took place over four gorgeous (but HOT!!) days and brought out all types of gorgeous natural beauty. Although I am usually super eager to attend festivals, fairs and other free events to take in some culture, I don’t do so very often… weird, right?! Well, for that very reason, I decided to attend two days of the festival, the first and last, to take in as much as I could {see my fashion pics from day one here}. Of course, I had my Nikon in tow with the goal of capturing some of the beautiful hair I was sure to see as I roamed Commodore Barry Park. I wish I could’ve gotten a lot more shots but I’m happy with the ones I DID get! Take a gander… The next event I PROMISE to get more hair AND fashion pics! I…
