Step Out of the Box With These 7 Fall & Winter Boot Styles
I kinda do a little dance when I discover a natural beauty with amazing style. Blogging and social media have surely connected me with quite a few fly chicks along the way. Please add this cutie pie to the list! Meet this month’s Natural Fashionista… Hey lovers!! I’m Vic Styles. I live in LA by way of Alabama & DC. I’m a full time wardrobe stylist, fashion blogger and, of course, a naturalista. How long have you been wearing your hair in its natural state and what made you decide to take that step? I have been natural my entire life. My mother never put a relaxer in my hair and I honestly had no knowledge about chemically processing my hair. I just knew this was how it grew out of my head so this is what I have to work with. What do you love the most about your…

Natural Fashionista: Simeko
You may already recognize our “resident” hair care pro from our Ask the Pro series here on the blog. Or you may have seen her work around the web and in magazines. What you may not know is that this natural hair pro is just as fierce in fashion as she is in beautifying the manes of many. We met some years back through a mutual friend and discovered that we shared a passion for natural hair and hair care education. We’ve been supporting the endeavors of one another ever since. ♥ Say hello… Hey Blooming Naturals! My name is Simeko and I’m owner of Meko, New York Natural Hair Care Spa & Boutique located in Orange, NJ. I was born & raised in Harlem, NY but now I’m a Jersey Gal (although Harlem still runs through my veins). How long have you been wearing your hair in its natural state?…

Natural Fashionista: Ebony
Here’s another fabulous young lady who I met on the socials via a mutual friend. Her style is just amazing and seemingly effortless. SHE DOPE! 🙂 I had to share the dopeness with you all. Here she is… I’m Ebony Green-Ellis, I work in the production department of a thrift store, and I’m a Cali/L.A. girl! How long have you been wearing your hair in its natural state and what made you take that step? I’ve been natural for about 13 years. I used to have middle of my back length straightened hair which I was very attached to and almost defined my beauty through. My last year of high school, it began to break and so did my fragile self-esteem. That same year, I met a kindred spirit of a friend. We both wrote poetry, shopped at thrift stores, and enjoyed music no one else around us did at…

Month In Review: My February Fashion
February was a crazy busy month with event after exciting event! Between New York Fashion Week, launch parties and soirées, I was definitely a girl on the move and wanted to look good doing it! Take a look at my eclectic style as I made my way around the city… This whirlwind of a month started with the Optimum Amla Legend Media Launch event with special guest Tracee Ellis Ross. I opted for a retro look complete with an almost completely shrunken ‘fro and vintage secretary blouse. To kick off NYFW, I stopped by the Required Flare Trunk Show for which I donned a rather preppy ensemble and a stretched-out fro. Get outfit deets and see how you can get the look here! That Saturday was the Know Your Roots event at Dinosaur BBQ in Harlem. Here’s an example of perking up your basics! I kept it vanilla with the outfit but…

Natural Fashionista: Gracie J.
I met this stylish gal during NY Fashion Week backstage at the Edwing D’Angelo show while covering the hair and beauty behind the scenes. Her amazingly THICK afro puff had me at “hello!” and her preppy-chic look was fierce but I’d soon find out that this naturalista was there representing one of my favorite sites! Let’s meet her, shall we? Introduce yourself! My name is Gracie J, I am Assistant Beauty Editor at LoveBrownSugar.com and beauty blogger at ByGracieJ.com aka Curl Next Door. I am a freelance manicurist, a naturalista, and DIY enthusiast… and I’m a cat lover, hi Mitty Bits! Have you always worn your hair in its natural state? If not, how long ago did you make the decision to go back and what made you take that step? I went natural a little over 3 years ago. I was tired of my hair thinning out from getting…
