Happy Sunday y’all! This post is an unlikely one {for my blog at least} but as I say in my bio, I just wanna share what I love. And, well… I love Lemon-Herb Tilapia! ^_^ For those of you wondering what to cook today, this one’s for you. I had never heard of tilapia before 2006. One of my coworkers used to order tilapia with penne a la vodka from this Italian restaurant all the time and I’m like, “what’s TILAPIA?!” O_o After I got married in ’07, I was always on the hunt for new and exciting dishes since my husband came from a home where he had many “menu” options thanks to an Italian step-dad who loved to cook. I remembered the tilapia! Both my husband and I love seafood (okay, lemme qualify that statement- I don’t do mussels, clams, oysters or squid!!! O_O) A few clicks of…
Ok, ok, ok… Sorry for the lack of a Fashion Friday post but nothing all that exciting happened for me in that area this week. It was just a lot of errand running and such so, yeah. I didn’t even have time to at least create a couple of inspirational outfit sets for you. 🙁 Next week, I’ll be back on it for realz! Right now, we gotta talk about Mrs. Carter. Now, before you get your trousers in a bunch, I’m not one of those Beyoncé super-fans who follows her every move, day and night. I’m just a simple gal who admires her as a performer and singer. But THIS cut right here is ON hunny!! WHAT??!! This pixie cut suits her to a T! Woo-wooooot! I’m sure by now you’ve seen all kinds of memes on IG or Facebook comparing Bey to an emoji, a certain character from…
I don’t always paint my nails. But when I do, I prefer Sinful Colors. (-_-) HA!! Okay, I know… that was kinda cheesy but I couldn’t resist. I discovered Sinful Colors brand nail polishes last year after seeing them featured in a few PhillyDiva tutorials on YouTube. When I saw them at my local Rite Aid… *gasp*. I couldn’t believe all the vibrant colors they offered at such an affordable price! Without hesitation, I bought three. 😉 Well, yeah, it took me a good while to decide exactly which colors to buy because they’re all so AWESOME!!! My nails have been growing pretty well these days which, I’m convinced, is due to the regular use of coconut oil. How I use it and its benefits will be left for another post but the point is, I thought it was time to finally jazz up these babies. I used to do…
AFROS- A Celebration of Natural Hair, the highly anticipated coffee table book by photographer Michael July, features 400+ pages of amazing, eye-popping images of women and men alike (and even some chirren!) sporting their natural tresses. I had the pleasure of chatting a bit with the man of the hour about his “baby” at the powerHouse Arena official book release party & exhibition: TBN: What gave you to the idea to do the book in the first place… why Afros? MJ: I did Afros because I’m a collector of Black art and culture, videos, movies, books… everything I could get my hand on. I started to notice, particularly from my heroes from the 60s, 70s and 80s were people with afros and natural hair. Then I started to look into the subject and there weren’t really any books out there that really spoke about it or illustrated how dope and…
Sooo… this mini photo session happened way back in October. YIKES! I’ve shared a few photos here and there (and you’ve probably seen a couple floating around on the internet!) but never the full batch. My bad y’all. Well, what better time to do so than during my August #31WriteNow blogging challenge! DMV-based photographer (yes, I went all the way to DC!) Danielle ‘Danni’ Finney is the talent behind the camera. With her amazing ability to use natural light to achieve gorgeous, colorful images, her work has definitely become instantly recognizable. Between Danni’s eye for prime locations and the work of her MUA Stephanie of Runway Ready Makeup Artistry, these shots came out way better than I ever would have expected! Although well into Fall, the weather beautifully cooperated with our plans. It was a gorgeous day. My entire outfit was purchased at H&M with the exception of the shoes…
