Step Out of the Box With These 7 Fall & Winter Boot Styles
Like our first official Natural Fashionista, I discovered this creative young woman on Instagram (…Instagram ROCKS!), drawn initially to her daily fashion posts. It didn’t hurt that her hair was always super cute! Without a doubt, she keeps us guessing on both ends. We caught up with one another at a meetup last Spring and she was even more beautiful in person. Meet P Roy… How long have you been rocking your natural tresses and what made you take that step? I’ve been completely natural for over 5 years and decided to take that leap because I wanted more versatility with my hair. I was already rocking curls, weaves, braids, straight hair, etc. and I knew that going natural I would have so many more styles to choose from! So the decision was made and I haven’t looked back since. What’s the best part about being natural? Did you face…

ModCloth x ToBNatural | “Uniquely You” Challenge
Welcome to Thursday! As I mentioned in last week’s Fashion Friday post, today, I am excited to finally be participating in ModCloth’s Uniquely You Campaign & Challenge along with a number of fellow bloggers. We were asked to style a featured item using up to seven additional items from ModCloth. This week, it’s Evening of Extravagance… This dress is great for any formal affair be it a wedding or a cocktail dinner with the ladies. And get this, it goes up to 4X! Awesome! There were so many lovely accessories to choose from that I had my indecisive moments. The one thing that was a no-brainer was the mint-colored shoulder bag (which I’d wear as a clutch by tucking the chain inside). How adorable! I wanted to add just a bit of color and this muted hue definitely hit the mark. For me, the gold touches help bring out the…

Hair Tip Tuesday: Prevent Frizzy Twist-Outs w/this Method
I’ve seen and heard many a natural gal lament that their twist-outs or braid-outs never come out right. There are many things involved in getting the “perfect” outcome but one thing that can help you achieve a decent look is this… Yes, smoothing down the hair as you unravel your twists/braids with an oil will continue the process of sealing the cuticle (which should have started at the moisturizing stage) and give you a nice, clean look. Additional Tips In addition to the use of certain products for hold, etc, a great defined look has a lot to do with the actual installation of the twists or braids. If you’re twisting, give each of the two sections a little twirl before you twist them together… am I making sense? LOL! If that was unclear, I’ll do my best to try and get a video up for you. 🙂 If you…

Out & About: Sweet Chick Brooklyn
Last week, I read an awesome article by Marie of Good Lookn Out on a couple of quaint spots she hit up while here in Brooklyn. She did such great job of hyping up Sweet Chick (not to mention her pics were AMAZING!) that I was super eager to take the hubster to this WIliamsburg chicken and waffle eatery the very next morning! As we walked in, we were immediately greeted by Benny and asked if we’d prefer a table by the window or a spot in the back area… we chose the window seat. Sweet Chick is by no means a large restaurant but I adored its rustic and homey feel. For me, the vibe was, “come on down, relax and chill”, almost coffee shop-y. The fresh flowers that dressed up each table were a nice touch. Onto the food! Sooooo GOOD!! The chicken was fresh, piping hot and oh,…
