Last week, I had the privilege of sitting in a room full of beauty taste-makers at Dream Downtown to talk #LegendaryStyle featuring the latest offerings from Optimum Amla Legend. Our hosts? Celeb stylist and SoftSheen-Carson Artistic Director Johnny Wright and super stylish naturalista Tracee Ellis Ross. As we sipped yummy green smoothies and nibbled on light bites, the duo spoke passionately about why they love this amla oil-infused line. Johnny explained how this legendary oil from India actually penetrates the hair shaft allowing the new stylers to not only help you achieve a flawless, sleek look but also help nourish the hair. I truly appreciated Tracee’s candor and wit as she let us in on her Amla Legend faves (like the Treasured Temple Edge Tamer to slick back her buns), describing exactly how she uses each one in her personal hair care routine. After getting the scoop on all the goodies, Johnny…

While I didn’t catch E! News’ Golden Globes red carpet coverage from its start, I was confident by its end that I had seen enough to establish my top looks of the night. To be fair, I scanned Twitter, Instagram and all that good stuff for possible toppers but alas, my top three remained. Here they are… 12 Years a Slave actress Lupita Nyong’o hit the red carpet with a gorgeous, floor-length Ralph Lauren number featuring an off-the-shoulder cape. Amazingly classy. She paired the gown with red Paul Andrew shoes to complete the monochromatic look and subtle Fred Leighton jewelry. Oh, and that side-parted blown out TWA is cute too! 😉 What a beauty. Coming in at a verrrryyy close second is Sofia Vergara in a black Zac Posen gown accented by a beautiful turquoise floral statement necklace by Lorraine Schwartz- perfect touch. I absolutely adore the classic silhouette of this dress. Vergara was too cute as…
Ok, ok, ok… Sorry for the lack of a Fashion Friday post but nothing all that exciting happened for me in that area this week. It was just a lot of errand running and such so, yeah. I didn’t even have time to at least create a couple of inspirational outfit sets for you. 🙁 Next week, I’ll be back on it for realz! Right now, we gotta talk about Mrs. Carter. Now, before you get your trousers in a bunch, I’m not one of those Beyoncé super-fans who follows her every move, day and night. I’m just a simple gal who admires her as a performer and singer. But THIS cut right here is ON hunny!! WHAT??!! This pixie cut suits her to a T! Woo-wooooot! I’m sure by now you’ve seen all kinds of memes on IG or Facebook comparing Bey to an emoji, a certain character from…
Teyonah Parris hits the red carpet with another fierce updo at the Mad Men Season 6 Premiere in L.A. Y’all know I just loooooovvve a huge bun almost as much as I love an obnoxiously large pompadour and this style right here seems to be doing double-duty. Like her S.A.G. Awards ‘do, Teyonah has caused quite the commotion (in a good way!) with this DaRico Jackson creation. The hair tops off the perfect silhouette created by this amazing high-neck, body-hugging dress by J. Loren. With gold detail and see-thru side paneling, this dress is saying “HERE. I. AM!” There’s a lot to be said about a woman (or quite possibly her stylist) who knows what shapes are flattering to her body. I have yet to see Teyonah miss a beat. Hitting a few inches below the knee, the dress is just the right length to be rounded out by these…
The natural hair community came to a screeching halt as social media was flooded with photos of this amazing red carpet look created by none other than the talented Felicia Leatherwood, natural hair stylist to the stars! I know you’re probably thinking, “Wow, girl you late!” But you’d be wrong LOL! Trust. I’ve been all over this since the very night Miss Parris walked that fancy coif down the red carpet of the 2013 SAG Awards. Still, I couldn’t let another week go by without an honorable mention on the blog! First, let’s REALLY give it up for celeb stylist Felicia Leatherwood who created this magnificence! *applause* Elegance? Check. Wow factor? Check. And don’t we just LOVE seeing our natural celeb sistas flaunting their coils and curls for the world to see? It was a beautiful thing. Not since Viola Davis at the Oscars did we cause such a stir!…
