So, here’s the story. I was invited to a brunch taking place tomorrow which I’m very excited to attend. Only thing is, it’s an all-white event. Now, I have a few white separates but nothing that really “goes” together. I’m also on the tightest budget EVER in the history of time. What’s a girl to do?! I took to Google the other night, brainstorming, using my PhotoGrid app to make a quick collage: Folake of Style Pantry always gets it right! A dress takes the guess work out of “what to wear” since it’s basically a top and bottom in one and her maxi is spot on. I added another basic maxi to the mix as well as a few separates just for some inspiration. I often like to accent a neutral, monochromatic palette (esp. white) with color color color, so I thought I’d go with my coral Lizette pumps…
I just saw this on Instagram thanks to being tagged by my friend Kim (hey girl!). I couldn’t have said it better myself. Not only did I repost but I thought it would be a great topic to open up some dialog here on the blog! Have you ever had this conversation with one of your relaxed-haired girlfriends? She tells you how cute your hair is and “you look good with natural hair but I don’t think I could ever go natural… It’s not for everyone”. Sure, every STYLE may not be for everyone but umm, it’s the hair that grows… out of your head! HOW CAN IT NOT BE “FOR YOU”?! I’m sorry ladies, I get confused when I hear this nonsense. What really makes my eye twitch is when they take it a little further talmbout “uh-uh, you don’t understand. My hair is too nappy for me to…
It’s 10:27pm and I’m now sitting down to do my post for the day. Well, it’s still today and I’ve done way worse so let’s go! ^_^ I was tagged by my buddies over at Naturally Supreme (ya know, iFro, iLoc, iTwist… yeah, they rock!), who have also joined in the #31WriteNow mayhem fun, to write 20 random facts about me… I’m soooo making this list up as I go along folks! (-_-) I was born in Barbados… …but I can’t swim. I’m watching that new show Deal With It with the hubster… it’s hilarious! I discovered six gray hairs on my head. SIX! O_O My new favorite colors are coral and teal. My fingernails are coral and my toenails are teal. I didn’t learn to drive until I was 21. Is that weird? I’m told I have a serious face but I’m really quite… cooky! I had horrible acne…
…IT’S MY BLOGIVERSARY!!! Woo-woooooop! That’s right y’all… today I celebrate one year of ToBNatural|luvtobnatural.com. Whew! What a year. I had no idea I would get as much love as what I have experienced especially in the past six months or so. I’m so happy that people are inspired by the content here on the blog as well as what I present through social media which is ultimately an extension of the blog. I love to express myself through writing and I love hair- what better way to fuse the two than to start a blog! To kick things off, I hooked up with my friend Chérmelle, The Coffeetographer™, and had some photos taken to help create a polished look for the site. It was a must that I rep my home, Brooklyn, so we chose DUMBO for the locale with the Brooklyn Bridge as a backdrop… The blog was started while…
This week’s mani is brought to you by my favorite colors {as of last year}: coral and teal. I acquired this coral polish at a friend’s wardrobe & accessory sale last summer. I had to have it! This particular shade, Blazed, seems to be a rather old nail color from Wet n Wild‘s Wet Shine line as I’m seeing reviews dating as far back as 2011. Pairing it with Sinful Color’s Rise and Shine was a no-brainer. They were meant to be! I wasn’t sure if I even wanted to do an accent nail this time around but I went ahead and tried a little something. A dotting tool would’ve been ideal for this design but I made do by holding the brush on an angle, using the edge ever so carefully to form dots {or as close I could get to ’em!} in a diagonal pattern… Hey, if I…
