I met Danni last year via Facebook through mutual curlfriends and was drawn to her beautiful smile, TWA and awesome style. Once I learned she was a photographer and viewed her amazing work, it was a wrap! I stalked followed DFinneyPhotography on Facebook and Tumblr just about every day to see what was new. Her work has been featured on Essence.com and you may recall this photo shoot with natural hair vlogger Mae aka NaturalChica which transitioned to the Curlbox cover art you see here. I even stepped in front of her camera for a mini shoot of my own. Yes, Danielle ‘Danni’ Finney is the talent behind it all! Because she encompasses everything ToBNatural is about, I just had ask her a few questions about her hair, her style and her art… How long have you been natural? Why? My whole life basically! When I was 11 my mother tried a kiddie…
Featured in top hair mags like Hype Hair, Wonder Curl’s Butter Than Love Hair Whipped is definitely thebomb.com!! So, it’s wash day and the plan was a blown-out braid-out. The Whipped would be the final step in a cocktail of products I was trying for the first time. After washing, conditioning, applying a heat protectant and blow-drying, it was now time for a product to give shine, softness and definition. Enter Wonder Curl Butter Than Love Hair Whipped! If you’re an ingredient reader, you’ll love that the Whipped contains Aloe Leaf Juice, Castor Oil and Shea Butter as the first three ingredients! It contains no petroleum, mineral oil, beeswax, lanolin, parabens, sulfates, silicones or harsh chemicals and is fragrance-free. WooHOO!! As I applied the Whipped, I immediately bellowed the famous Coming to America quote: “What is this VELVET?!” LOL! I couldn’t believe how smooth it was. It was like… butta!…
Date: Sept 6th 2012- Day One of Fashion Week Occasions: Fashion’s Night Out/ Chic ‘n’ Kinky Natural’s Night Out Dilemma: What to wear When stepping out on the first night of Fashion Week, ya wanna look your best… usually. But with a limited budget and not a whole lot of time, I decided to shop my closet. A funky yet comfy look for the natural hair event I’d be attending was needed, so my favorite pair of jeans was a sure thing. Now, do I do a cami and a blazer? A white tee and beaucoup accessories?? Welp, at the back of the closet hung an old friend- a western-style denim snap button-down shirt. But a denim top AND bottom… how would that look? 0_o *cue banjo-playing quartet* Once again, Folake Huntoon of StylePantry was in my head! With this style post exactly ONE week before the event, I was…
In the month of November, I decided to begin protective styling with my favorite thing- kinky twists! At least… I think they were kinky twists. LOL Ya see, I used Bob Bulk hair by Janet Collection which isn’t quite kinky yet isn’t quite as straight as normal kanekalon braiding hair. You may recall this style post, inspired by Chanel Boateng on the YT. Anywho, here are four more styles I wore during the month and a half that I had these twists in. Enjoy!
