Two weeks from tomorrow… my cousin is getting MARRIED! Weeeeee! ^_^ I am beyond excited for him and cannot wait to watch as he exchanges vows with his beautiful bride.
Now, I was all set to just start working out so I could wear something I already have to save some money, thinking I’d have to spend upwards of $50 for a decent dress. Welp, enter H&M.com’s 50% off sale. *rubs hands together in a sinister fashion*
From the comfort of my desk… um, dining room table, I was able to snag this plum number, originally priced at $40, for the low, low price of $20!
H&M sleeveless wrap dress / Steve Madden patent pumps / ALDO purse / Banana Republic ring / ASOS watch / FOSSIL earrings
This was the only dress I deemed wedding-appropriate among all the clearance dresses. At first I thought, “am I just settling? Is it really ME?” True, this isn’t a cut that I normally go for but the color is beautiful {purple is my original favorite color} and the shape, classic and ladylike. I’ll try it. Hey, if it doesn’t work, I have a backup plan… kinda. Unfortunately, ladies, this color is sold out 🙁 but the patterned version is still up for grabs.
I know what you’re thinking! “Won’t you be cold?!” Nah! My wool coat will do just fine in shielding me from the elements. Besides, between the car and the venue, I’ll only be outside for a total of say… ten minutes. Cold, shmold. LOL! I’ll carry my “pashmina” for the reception hall.
For shoes and accessories, I’m going relatively simple. With the cocktail ring as a starting point, I built the rest of this ensemble using a mixture of natural/neutral tones. Although somewhat monochromatic, the use of different textures in the add-ons {i.e. pearls + crystals} gives it just the right amount of excitement without being gaudy.
My dress is on it’s way {oh, I also got the top shown in this post for under $7!} so we’ll see what happens. If all is well, you’ll definitely be seeing this in a future OOTD post! 😉

Funny, I’m attending a wedding next Saturday and perused to see if a dress I already had in my closet would pop up among a search of fall wedding dresses…and it did! It’s a bright, navy blue peplum and I’m going to wear black open toe patent ankle straps, black pearls upon my neck, small black posts…etc. Have fun Toia!

I knew someone would ask 🙂 I was gonna talk about that a bit in the post but I didn’t want it to be too long. I’m really not sure yet. I often wear updos to formal occasions but I may wear it out. We’ll see when the day comes. And of course I will post pictures! 😉
