here's a high bun that I LOVE to wear for special occasions or even just because! in addition to the items listed previously, I'll also be using both short & long bobby pins along with regular hair pins.

of course, I'm starting off with blown-out hair. I'm gonna first prep my faux hair by securing a ponytail holder onto the center of the hair to make it easier to add onto my own.

using a detangling brush, I gather my hair at the top of my head and secure with a ponytail holder.

now I apply some gel to the front edges of my hair & brush it in, closely following with my hand to smooth down. then I add a generous amount of gel to the back...

and the same process is done with the back, making sure all the hair at the nape is smoothed in. I often like to redo the ponytail at this point, just to ensure that all the hair is gathered in smoothly.

gather the loose hair & roll it downward to form a bun. secure with a couple bobby pins. attach faux hair, allowing it to fall to one side. I bring mine to the left so I can roll it to the right... just feels more comfortable that way for me! fold faux hair in halfway...

then roll the hair over to the opposite side & secure with a pin (I used a long one to start). go back to the "starting" side & anchor with a few long & short bobby pins as needed.

continue to pin down the other side of the bun using bobby pins initially as they will keep the hair most secure. first grab a piece of hair with the pin & gently insert it close to the scalp but more horizontally so as not to cause damage.

moving towards the front, continue to create the rounded shape of the bun, grabbing hair with the pins & securing. adjust the pieces of faux hair as you go along to maintain the shape & neatness.

play with the hair and make any necessary adjustments, separating and fluffing the hair out a bit until the bun is to your liking. and there you have it!

this JUMBO bun certainly isn't for everyone, but I think it's a cute variation of a classic style! check out more style ideas on my YouTube channel!
