Fluffy Braid-Out on Natural Hair

starting with freshly washed hair, I apply a leave-in treatment spray & a heat protectant oil to prep for blow drying. I do this one section at a time.

using the "tension" method, I stretch the hair out while drying so I can have some bounce to the style & show off more length. I add a moisturizing lotion & styling mousse for hold and brush it through with a detangling brush.

now it's time to braid! when I get close to the ends, I apply a bit more mousse & detangle the ends.  this ensures the results are nice & smooth while I twist to finish off my braid.

here's a closer look... at the ends, I take the 3 parts of the braid, add one piece to another to create 2 & then proceed to twist.

I like to twirl the very ends so the results look more polished. TIP: when applying product, cover the length of the hair, using the "praying hands" method. to start my braid, I pull the hair nice & taut, but not too tight.

for the most stretch, give the hair a slight tug as you go. keep the braid itself tight for the best definition. detangle the ends, add mousse & twist to finish. once the hair is braided, add a flexi rod to give the hair a slight curl.

the next day, take down the flexi rods & carefully undo each. because I didn't "borrow" hair while braiding & braided the hair straight from root to ends, the braid comes apart with ease!

to help with the last few steps & keep frizz down, I add a bit of argan oil to my fingertips. I separate each section for volume and give the hair a shake. then I take my hair pick to lift the roots & fill in the gaps.

to finish off the style, I apply a bit of edge control & smooth in with my styling brush. loving the results so, naturally, I've gotta dance!
