starting with a really good cleanse to remove buildup on the hair and scalp. TIP: massage scalp with fingertips, not fingernails to prevent damage to your scalp.
after massaging the scalp a bit, I divide the hair into about 6 sections and do some light finger detangling. then I rinse and apply my hair mask to help replenish moisture.
after saturating the hair with my mask, I use a detangling brush to fully detangle the hair.
TIP: when detangling, always start at the ends and gently work your way up to the roots. this is much more effective than starting at the roots & will prevent unnecessary breakage.
once hair is all detangled, I rinse and put on my microfiber towel wrap to dry the hair. I keep it on for a while then allow the hair to air dry until it's about 90% dry.
using my hair steamer to stretch the hair a bit before styling. I then apply a leave-in conditioner to moisturize & an oil to seal the moisture. afterwards, I apply a mousse & begin wrapping the hair in flexi rods.
after applying mousse, I give the hair one last brush. I hold the flexi rod while wrapping the hair around it & then wind the flexi rod to the scalp & secure.
once the whole head is complete, wrap hair in a satin scarf & let the curls set overnight. OR, sit under hair dryer until curls are completely dry. remove rods & add oil to fingertips.
gently separate curls once or twice to give a more full look. I'm using my hair steamer here to add a little more volume.
you can see the difference in the volume on the left and right. I then go in with a pick to give the hair some height where I like it and... VOILA!
