Last Thursday, hubby and I celebrated nine years of marriage! Since it fell on a weekday, we did our actual celebrating on Saturday. The hubster kept quiet on what he had planned so when the day came, I was as anxious and giddy as a schoolgirl!
First stop β Brooklyn Botanic Garden. We match!
Because life and bills are real (LOL!) we’ve spent our last few wedding anniversaries right here at home, doing things locally, enjoying one another’s company. This trip to Brooklyn Botanic Garden was special because I hadn’t been since I was a teenager and I’ve come to realize that I absolutely love nature. It gives me such peace.
Skirt- Thrifted (similar) | Purse- Target (similar) | Belt- Banana Republic (similar) | Necklace – Forever 21 (similar) Sandals – ON SALE! Rainbow (also worn here)
What a coincidence that I’d wear this watercolor floral maxi skirt and end up at Brooklyn Botanic Garden! When I spotted it at my favorite thrift shop just a couple weeks ago, I couldn’t leave without it, especially not at only four bucks! It needed some mending but thanks to mom, I know my way around a needle and thread.
Can’t go wrong with a maxi skirt in the summer. The floral print against this backdrop made for some gorgeous memories.
Thanks hubster! β₯ π
But wait… there’s more! Stay tuned for more anniversary highlights coming soon.
Your husband did a great job! Love that your skirt was matching! I actually haven’t been there yet which is kind of silly since I’ve lived outside of NYC my whole life. I’m frequently there and it’s been on my list of things to do with my husband for quite some time. He’s from outside of the country so I’ve been taking him to all the landmarks and tourist spots in the area.

Hi Monika! That’s awesome that you’ve been taking hubby around to all the tourist spots! For past anniversaries, we’ve done just that- rode the Staten Island ferry, took the tram to Roosevelt Island and “frolicked” through the park LOL! We tend to take living so close by for granted. But taking the time to find out what’s around you can be a lot of fun and you save money on an expensive getaway (which doesn’t hurt once in a while!) π
Lovely skirt. In fact, I love most of your skirts. I wanted to say that this is an awesome blog that I look forward to seeing in my in box and reading. You are real and its good to see realness.

I love botanical gardens. That skirt is lovely. What a wonderful surprise from Hubby. Can’t wait to see what else you did. I need to find some quaint spots near me.

Thanks Daphne! Yes, it was a nice surprise. As we’re walking, I’m thinking we’re going to the train station LOL! It’s not far from us at all, which is great. But also sad that it’s right there and don’t go very often. π But I’m sure in B’more you’ve got some great spots too. Don’t rule out the touristy activities! We’ve done that over the years. Lots of fun!
