I don’t know about you, but a tear-free bath time is pretty hit or miss in our home depending on our toddler’s mood just before. If you find yourself in this same situation with your baby or toddler, here are a few simple things to help us all get through bath time as drama-free as possible.
Make it Part of a Routine
Hubby and I prefer to do bath time before bed as, I think, most folks like to do. But you may prefer to do it in the mornings or before a midday nap. Whatever time of day you determine for your little one’s bath time, be consistent. This tidbit was shared with me by many of my mom friends and I’ve learned this to be true – kids thrive on routines. Even better, it doesn’t take long for them to get used to things.
Once your child knows what to expect at a certain time of day, they’ll become second nature to him and you’re less likely to have a fussy little one on your hands. Once he notices certain “markers” that signal bath time, he’ll be ready to go!
Say “Yes” to Fun!
If you can get some bath toys, great! While Micah doesn’t have a ton of bath-specific trinkets, he does have a handful of favorite little things that he loves to hold onto throughout the day. Instead of pulling him away from them and to be sure we have a bath-time without “incident”, we allow Micah to pick out one or two bath-friendly toys to keep himself entertained why we clean him up.
We try to keep things enjoyable as possible so we aren’t above singing his favorite songs or making up silly ones during bath time. Once you get your little one smiling and laughing, the rest is a breeze.
Use Gentle Products
I want the best quality for my son, especially anything that’s going in or on his body. So, I make it a point to look out for products that won’t be harsh on his skin, especially during certain times of the year. Baby Dove Tip-to-Toe Wash checks all the boxes when it comes to what I look for in a cleanser!
For starters, hubby remarked right away that Baby Dove Tip-to-Toe Wash has a light lather which meant Micah’s skin would likely retain more moisture. We were right. After bath time, his skin was soft and supple, not screaming for moisture. The tear-free wash has a pleasant fragrance that’s just enough to have your baby or toddler smelling fresh without being overpowering. I absolutely LOVE it!
The Baby Dove Rich Moisture Lotion takes things a step further to ensure that Micah’s skin stays moisturized longer. This creamy lotion goes on smooth to keep both his and our skin feeling great. You’ll love how both the Wash and Lotion work together to go beyond mild cleansing to help your child’s delicate skin retain moisture.
