Being that this was an event hosted by miss Curly Nikki, I knew there would be tons of media and lots of pic-taking! Therefore, even more so than usual, putting together a comfortable yet super cute outfit was a must. Soooo… this outfit idea literally came to me in the shower (LOL) only a few hours before it was time to get ready. If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you mighta seen these pics in your feed:
My inspiration was this cool, semi-funky, comfy-looking outfit on Esperanza Spalding… a go-with-anything chambray denim button-down, jeans and a blazer ← Anyone who really knows me understands how much I live for blazers! Cute, huh?!
I thought, “what haven’t I worn in a while”? The coral H&M jeans and purple Zara blazer came to mind. Surely those two would go together! Once I had it all figured out, it reminded me of this ensemble Nikki herself wore at her NYC meetup back in October of 2011.
I was only able to capture this single shot of my outfit so…
Velvet Blazer: Zara | Chambray Shirt: Dr. Jays | Jeans, Bracelets, Purse: H&M | Wedge Booties: ShoeDazzle | Necklace: Jewelry Swap | Earrings: Necessary Clothing | Ring: Gifted
Nikki and I almost ended up looking like twinzies if you ask me! “Great minds…”
Moral of the story? You don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort! Marrying “dressy” items with casual basics can make for awesome event-worthy style without being stuffy. Blazers can instantly pull an outfit together, even when working off of the simplest pieces.
‘Til next time fashionistas!
xoxo
