Hello and thank you for joining me for part two of my Original Moxie review!
Last time, you saw how I used two of the products on wash day (here it is in case you mised it). After washing, I did a blowout using one of the styling products I received, Lux Locks Styling and Shine along with a small dollop of grapeseed oil as a heat protectant.
Lux Locks Styling & Shine- 6 oz. $18 {For thick, dry hair that soaks up heavier creams and craves moisture and definition.}
Claim: “…penetrating moisture & natural ingredients without product build up! The key is our unique blend of Shea & Ucuuba Butters, both exceptionally rich sources of Vitamins and Omega Fatty Acids, which deliver deep moisture to dry hair, and create a smooth, glossy finish that lasts and lasts.”
How can I describe the smell of this?? Hmmm… this is a tough one. I’d say it has a rather herbal scent. With natural ingredients like Nettle, Ylang Ylang, Kelp and Yucca Root, no wonder! Once again, I love the commitment to quality ingredients! The main thing I noticed about this product was that a little goes a long way- I received two minis (.5 oz each), used the buttery, cream-like product throughout my entire head and still had about half of the product left in the first mini jar…and you see how thick my hair is! I thought for sure I would need both jars all at once but I was thoroughly surprised. What does this mean? That you’ll definitely get your money’s worth. I was able to use that same jar a couple more times for touch-ups before I exhausted it. *high five* My hair had great shine, felt soft and the blow-out held up for the rest of the evening with little to no shrinkage.
A few days into this blow-out, the weather got crazy (that’s NY for ya!). So, I decided it was time to put this hair up in a simple protective style. I had done this particular updo before but thought I should try it out with my OM goodies! For this, I turned to my Lux Locks to seal in moisture after applying a leave-in and this gel to slick my hair up…
Just Gel Styling Concentrate 8oz. $18 {All curl types; medium to thick hair}
Claim: “Flexibility is the name of the game for this unique gel. Whether your hair is pin straight or tightly curled, this alcohol-free formula, infused with botanical extracts and fortified with Vitamin E & Panthenol, will deliver frizz control and touchable hold without the Dried-Out-Crunchies!”
The consistency of this gel reminded me of some homemade flaxseed gel I concocted last year. Looking closer at the bottle, I realized that was for good reason since flaxseed extract is one of the main ingredients. ^_^ It has a light floral/fruity smell, I love it. This is one of the most natural gels you’ll find on the market. Infused with Horsetail, Irish Moss and St, John’s Wort, Just Gel not only helps you achieve a great style but it nourishes your hair in the process. You can’t beat that!
Watch the brief style tutorial below to see how I used the combo to get the look.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRBQIx1gU0c&w=520&h=315]Cool, huh?! I had a flexible hold and my hair wasn’t crunchy whatsoever. Flakes after it dried? Zero! {P.s. Normally I would tie my hair down to set it after applying the gel but I was rushing to head out 🙂 } All in all, I was pleased with the results.
So… would you like to try some for yourself?! OF COURSE you would! Rachel, creator of Original Moxie (she rocks!) has given me the opportunity to select TWO winners who will receive a set of Moxie Minis containing all of the items I used:
1 oz Get Clean | 1 oz Intense Quench | .5 oz Lux Locks | 1 oz Just Gel
To enter to win your Moxie Minis, simply comment below telling me why or how you would like to use the products in your washing & styling routine. That’s it. The contest will run until next Friday, June 28th and the winner will be announced here on the blog that Saturday, the 29th.
Ready, set… GO!!!

I’m currently looking for something to hold my mini twist as I’m on a protective style challenge. Besides I’ve been dying to try Original Moxie products for years!
This mini set screams Wash and Go! I would start by washing my hair with the Get Clean then follow up with the Intense Quench deep conditioner. Sure that my hair would be hydrated and buttery soft, I get to styling. I’d start with a little bit of the Lux Locks then smooth in the Just Gel and Voila! Go! 😉
This sample set screams wash n go! I would cleanse my hair with the Get Clean followed by a deep conditions session with the Intense Quench. Absolutely positive that my hair would be hydrated and ready for styling, I’d use a little bit of the Lux Locks then Shingle with Just Gel. Voila! All done! 🙂
I colored my hair and it left my hair dry and I need to restore moisture back. Would love to try this product.
I would love the Lux Locs because of its claim for dry hair. My hair tends to be dry and I would use it to bring back moisture. Using it daily would be my goal.
I am in search of products that provide the intense moisture my hair desperately needs. From the videos I’ve seen and blogs I have read, Original Moxie has a great reputation for providing moisture. I would like to use the Just Gel and Lux Locks for twist outs and protective styles. We had our first 100 degree day in Texas where I live today. My hair is begging to try these products!
I’d love to try Lux Locks and Hair Bling to achieve an amazing twist out.
i would love to try original moxie products
These products would be great for reinvigorating my lack luster hair
I’ve never tried Original Movie products and would love to try new things from an ingredient conscious brand.
Sidenote: So nice meeting you Friday!
I continue to see young ladies with coarse textures have major success with these products and I would love to give them a try!!!!! I feel as though they could leave me with clean, moisturized hair, and provide me with a great, flexible hold, as well as shine. I intend on using them to accomplish an updo that I have created in my mind and I think they could help me accomplish it with ease!!!! Thanks for the chance to win these products and good luck everyone!
I’m trying a wash n go summer experienent and that gel would help me immensely. I don’t use Eco styler on my entire hair shaft because it is to drying, I’m looking for products that both moisturize, provide shine and hold. Is that asking to much lmao. Hope I win
First let me start by saying I loved the tutorials and results. Your hair was BLINGING in that top knot!
I would use Original Moxie of course to wash and moisturize my hair. Right now I’m simply shampooing 1-2xs a month and its been my desire for a long time to stop lathering altogether. For styling, I’m a big twistout fan and of course I would use OM for that, however I’ve begun to experiment with rods as well as the top knot updo you demonstrated in the video. One thing I currently don’t have and am looking for is a line of products whose ingredients compliment one another in my hair. Also, I’m currently on the hunt for a natural ingredient soft hold gel. I believe Just Gel as well as the other three products would help me to perfect both of these styles and allow my hair to shine and bling in all of its moisturized glory!
I would use the Thirst Quencher as a co wash. But use the Get Clean when my hair gets dirty,Deep Condish with Thirst Quencher. Then moisturize with Lux Locks and twist or flat twist with Just Gel….I think Original Moxie is one of the healthist hair choices I could make…please..pick me♥..lol
I have decided to really take care of my natural hair and nourish and protect it this year by stopping the continuous blow drying every week. I have been looking for great products such as the original moxie products to help bring the softness and moisture back to hair.
Really looking for a shampoo that will not strip the moisture from my hair, but leave my scalp clean after build up from the week. Also, because I want to concentrate on retaining length, I’m really looking for products that will aid in protective updo’s! I have read many great reviews on these all natural products. Would love the opportunity to try them out!
I am in the process of trying new color and tapering the sides and back of my natural hair. This would the perfect time to try a new product with my new look!
