Summertime is in full swing! With the great weather, you’ll likely be entertaining and getting together with friends and family more this season. I’m excited to partner with Angel Soft® with Fresh Lavender-Scented Tube to share a few things we do to prep for summer guests.

Decide on the Menu

Sure, the main reason for getting together with friends is to spend time with them. But, let’s be honest… there are few things worse than being hungry, and no one wants cranky guests! I want people to enjoy themselves, so well before the day of our get together, we think about what’s gonna be served.

I used to get super fussy about cooking up a big meal for guests, but I’ve come to realize that less is more! A simple, modest dish will do, or maybe ask your guests to contribute an item so there’s less stress on you. Lay out a few snacks for folks to munch on when they arrive. For less formal gatherings, snacks may be all you need! Our game night looks like this: fruit platter, veggie platter, chips, and pizza. Done and done. Whatever route you take, be sure to ask about allergies so good times will be had by all.

It’s summertime, so don’t forget beverages! Guests are usually cool with bringing their favorite beverage to share; just be sure to have plenty of ice on-hand!

Clean & Declutter

Guests should feel comfy in your home. The best way to make that happen is to make sure it stays clean and clutter-free. I know, it isn’t always easy to stay on top of that top-to-bottom spring cleaning. But there’s something about expecting guests that makes you see what you need to toss, and what could use more sprucing up.

If the job is bigger than what you have time for, deal with the area(s) your guests will hang out in the most, like your living room, family room, or den. Get rid of that pile of junk mail in the corner, give the room a good sweep, and open up a window for fresh air.

Bathroom Pointers

If you do a lot of entertaining during the summer like we do, this will be a high traffic area. Once I give the bathroom a nice cleaning (which goes without saying), there are two things I’m most concerned about when prepping for guests: “Does it smell nice?” and “Is there enough toilet paper?” We’ve been enjoying Angel Soft® with Fresh Lavender-Scented Tube because it solves both of my needs in one shot!

The Entertainment

We’re a fun bunch, so we keep some games in our living room console and break ‘em out to get things jumping. For those chill evenings with a small group, I’ve placed a neat stack of recent magazines and two coffee table books on the end of the console (because, no coffee table LOL!) for any who are interested. A little music in the background courtesy of your favorite streaming service is cool, too!

Pump up the AC!

Last, but certainly not least! Hopefully you have an air conditioner to keep you cool during the season. NYC summers are serious, so we are sure to have our AC going well before guests arrive so they walk into a comfortable, cool apartment. Plus, the more people in a room, the warmer it gets, so it definitely keeps going ‘til the last person goes home. Making sure your guests are comfortable makes for a pleasant time all around!
