The Oscars 2015 red carpet was aglow with varying hues of white and beautiful blush. I didn’t watch but my eyes were glued to social media for a peek at the arrivals. In no particular order, here’s a quick rundown of my favorite looks of the evening.
Lupita Nyong’o
Hey, first things first! LOL! Miss Lupita is absolutely stunning in this custom Calvin Klein number of pearly magnificence! The TWA is a great choice for a gown of this magnitude as is the nearly skin-colored lippie and barely there makeup. Applause to stylist Michaela Erlanger, as always, and the whole glam squad on Nyong’o duty.
Jennifer Lopez
Okay… here’s JLo in yet another gown which features a plunging neckline. But, I mean, the gorgeousness! Elie Saab rarely disappoints. Word around the web, though, is that she and Luciana Duvall (wife of Robert) were twinsies.
I can definitely see how one may think that but upon closer observation, the dresses are indeed similar but clearly, not identical. Through pure happenstance, I learned that Mrs. Duvall is actually rockin’ a piece from designer Jad Ghandour‘s Summer 2015 collection. I may actually like this coral shade a smidgen more than the Elie Saab/JLo collab. Well, both women look amazing so, moving right along…
Viola Davis
I’m always on the lookout for two people on the red carpet: Lupita (goes without saying) and Viola. Man, listen. I need for Viola to always wear her natural kinks, I mean… everywhere! She looks beautiful in this slightly tapered TWA. The end. The Zac Posen gown is a great match for her complexion and the coordinating pearls, perfect touch.
Zoe Saldana
Zoe Saldana in Atelier Versace. YES! This post-baby weight is agreeing with her. Adore the subtle wrap at the center which hugs her perfectly at the waist and then loosens to embrace her curves. The hair compliments the look nicely with simple ringlets framing her face.
Kerry Washington
I’ve always been a fan of the strapless look for formal occasions and peplum, for me, will always be in style. I’m no Scandal watcher (ducks from tomatoes) but I’ve seen enough Olivia Pope fashion rundowns to know that this is definitely her style. Could her on-screen persona be creeping into her real life? Who knows, but this Miu Miu dress does it for me. Classy!
Honorable Mentions…
Zendaya
Here’s another beauty in white. Now, I don’t entirely hate this Vivienne Westwood dress on Zendaya but it just doesn’t do much for me… on HER. I DO however, love these faux locs on her! Giving me a little Denise Huxtable, Cosby Show season six. And, yes, she’s got a cute little face.
Kelly Osbourne
When the whole high-low trend came on the scene, I was not a fan. Still not, in most cases. I prefer when there’s a gradual transition, where the “high” is not too high in comparison with the “low”, if that makes sense. This Rita Vinieris dress gets a thumbs up from me. The large folds/pleats make it less obvious and I’m feeling the lace detail along the hem, across the top and sleeves.
Scarlett Johansson
I’m enjoying the shape of this emerald green Atelier Versace gown on Scarlett. The v-neck is enhanced by a bold necklace of the same hue. While the dress could have been fine with a more subtle accessory or even none at all, I actually like this combo.
Which starlet wore your favorite dress on the Oscars 2015 red carpet? Anyone I didn’t mention? Let me know below!
