From her edgy blonde hair to her fabulously chic sense of fashion to her effortless voice, Scottish recording artist and songwriter Emeli Sande’ is definitely my current obsession errr… fascination. Having written for songstresses like Rihanna and Leona Lewis, Emeli has had an amazing year on her own with the release of her debut Our Version of Events, capped off by two huge wins at the recent 2013 BRIT Awards for Best British Female Artist and Best British Album! “Well-deserved” doesn’t even begin to describe…
You may be familiar with her catchy, upbeat single Next to Me which has had global success with airplay all over popular radio. I’m sorry to say I jumped on this bandwagon waaaaayy after her album debut a whole year ago but man am I glad I did! Anyone who knows me understands my love for good music… GOOD music. I’m talkin’ not just a pretty voice but ear-catching melodies and heart-stirring lyrics good music! Reminds me of how I felt when I first heard Adele- mmhhmm another Brit! Listen, there’s some good stuff comin’ outta that side of the world, don’t sleep! (O_O) LOL I’m telling you, I start at track one, click that triangle and never skip a song. Yes, it’s THAT good.
I’m not even gonna begin to tell you my favorite track because honestly… I can’t do it. It’s too hard to choose just one! I find myself often humming River, a sweet, emotional ballad with heartfelt lyrics. Daddy has a funky, almost old-school hip-hop-ish kinda beat that always gets me movin’! When I saw her perform Clown on the Graham Norton show– goosebumps.

Emeli is great! Lianne LaHavas is another to keep an ear out for from that side of the tracks!
love her!
“River” gets me everytime! My constant replays are also “My Kind of Love”, “Maybe”, and “Suitcase.” Suitcase was what hooked me; I happened to be in Barnes and Noble and they were playing it. Found her and bought the album that day! She’s amazing.
Yes, I love ALL of those… tellin you, they’re ALL great!! Suitcase… ugh, just amazing. My Kind of Love… Ok I’m don’e. LOL It’s too hard.
I know! Haha! The whole album is just so incredible.
