Raise your hand if you’re ready for wedding and festival season?! *shoots hand high in the air*
Truth be told, I have ZERO plans for anything of the sort (yet) but I’ll be just fine traipsing around these Brooklyn streets with a fly hairdo. If YOU, on the other hand, have some events lined up, why not try this dope bunhawk! As a matter of fact, the date for the ever-popular “Coachella of natural hair” Curl Fest was recently announced. This bunhawk would definitely be a Curl Fest appropriate style to rock with your favorite summer outfit while catching the sights and sounds of the day.
I know what you’re thinking… “this bunhawk looks complicated plus I don’t have the length!” But the style is actually easier to achieve than you might think, even if you don’t have super long or thick hair. I’m a string advocate for “fake it til you make it” when it comes to hair!
The parting is another roadblock for many. I would suggest taking your time when parting and using a handheld mirror while looking into another larger mirror to make sure your parts end up nice and straight. My parts aren’t exactly perfect but they’ll do! Once those are done, you should be good to go from there.
What You’ll Need
For this bunhawk I used:
- Cuban Twist Hair (color 1B)
- Eco Style Olive Oil Gel
- Rattail comb
- Tangle Teezer
- Ouchless hair bands
- Palmer’s Natural Fusions Leave-In Conditioner & Hair Food Oil
I started off with freshly washed and blow dried hair but, as I always say, feel free to stretch your hair anyway you like! Moisturizing is part of my hair routine every wash day but when I’m doing a protective style that I’ll be wearing for a week or more, I make sure I pay extra attention to moisturizing and sealing with an oil. Palmer’s Natural Fusions Mallow Root Leave-In and Ceramide Monoï Hair Food Oil always keeps my hair feeling soft for days so this would be my go-to for this bunhawk!
