Howdy!
Welp, last Friday you saw my brainstorming in action as I tried to figure out what to wear to this brunch with an all-white theme. If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you may have already caught a glimpse of my getup. Here it is in all it’s glory…
Hair: Marley Twists
Necklace: Aldo (similar here & here)
Dress: Rainbow (similar)
Gap scarf worn as belt (super old- similar here)
Shoes: JustFab (similar here)
I wasn’t sure WHAT to expect when I walked into Rainbow with my tight budget (limit- $20!) but I was hoping for a miracle. Would I find something brunch-worthy?! This strapless dress was the only thing in the entire store that was all white, basic enough to dress up and at a length I was comfortable with. I’ve basically been over the high-low thing since it began (LOL!) but this was doable since the “high” wasn’t super high so there wasn’t such a drastic contrast in length from front to back. I scored this baby for only $17 (WOOHOO)!
The coral and teal accessorizing thing I wanted to do didn’t work out so I reached for my teal peep-toe pumps and had to quickly think of what other pieces I had that would work. It all came together nicely!
Let’s chat! When you’re on a budget, do you shop your closet or simply go on the hunt for a bargain?
Tomorrow’s the last day of the #31WriteNow Challenge…Yesss! I made it!

Holy moly, you’re gorgeous, girl!! And I can’t believe the price! CRAZY! It fits you so well and the accessories are fab! Also, can we talk about your hair? I LOVE IT!
When I’m in a budget squeeze, I usually go to my closet for clothes and then spend a little money on accessories. I have a few places near me that have fantastic sales every couple of months, and I hit them up even if I don’t “need” anything because the prices are so low. If I find something that is unique, I’ll pick it up and stash it away for later.
All right, I’m off to stalk the rest of your blog now. Haha!
HAHA!! Thx so much for the compliments! Sounds like you do exactly the opposite of what I did here LOL For me, it all depends. I usually have the clothes (for I have a lot, too much, in fact!) and may need the accessories. Got a lot of that too! Smh For this outfit, I had the shoes then the “belt” and said to myself “surely I MUST have a necklace to go with this”! I totally forgot I had this one… which means I have too much!
Go ahead and stalk away! Enjoy!
Loved the fit! I’m not a fan of the high low either. I purchased my first high low dress last week for the same reason…there was a bit of balance lol.
I always try my closet first..then I hit the clearance rack ^_^
Thx Vee! Yes, I needed balance in a high-low dress IF I was gonna do one, for sure! I’ve been a closet shopper since my mid twenties. I just don’t care anymore! I’m kinda forced not to care right now since I’m unemployed LOL but I’m always all about saving a buck.
